Michigan State Football: Mark Dantonio says 2017 outlook is “very promising”
Mark Dantonio has high hopes — very high — for Michigan State football prior to the 2017 season.
What would you say if I told you that you should be excited for the 2017 version of Michigan State football? You’d probably call me crazy after the disaster that was the 2016 season when the Spartans finished 3-9 and are currently having a tumultuous offseason, right?

Well, if you still believe in head coach Mark Dantonio — which you should — then you have every reason to be excited. Things can’t get much worse and things can only get better from here.
That’s a minimalist attitude, but Dantonio is taking a much more positive approach and told reporters on Monday that the outlook for the 2017 season is promising. In fact, he went as far as to say “very promising.”
Those are interesting words coming from a head coach who missed his first bowl game as a Spartan and who is waiting for word regarding three players being investigated for sexual assault. On top of that, Auston Robertson has been dismissed from the team and the Spartans are desperately hoping for a break.
However, the head coach is being positive. Is it because he is paid to say things like that or because he actually believes it? While you may never hear Dantonio say anything negative about Michigan State, he usually says what’s on his mind.
