Michigan State football received bad news regarding one of the four players facing sexual assault charges.

Fans and alumni have been waiting patiently for news regarding the sexual assault case that took place months ago. While they will have to wait a bit longer on that, one Michigan State football player, who was suspended anonymously last week, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct.

Auston Robertson, a soon-to-be sophomore defensive end, was suspended after an April 9 incident which is now being ruled criminal sexual conduct, according to MLive‘s Kyle Austin.

While this isn’t the kind of news Michigan State fans want to hear about, the faster these cases can be solved and punishments can be handed out, the quicker the program can move on and maybe leave some bad apples behind.

Mark Dantonio has been applauded in the past for his handling of situations like this, but this past season has rubbed some the wrong way. He has seemed to slightly lose the grip he had on his team, but he can’t be blamed for everything. While he’s recruited these players, they are responsible for their own actions.

This goes far beyond being “dumb college kids” and into the “criminal” stage. There is only so much Dantonio can preach, but these kids are making these life-changing mistakes on their own.
