According to Vegas, Michigan State basketball has the eighth-best odds to win the 2018 national title.

The college basketball season as officially come to a close and every team is now in offseason mode outside of North Carolina — the Tar Heels are still in party mode. Michigan State is hoping to solidify its 2017-18 roster, starting with the decision of Miles Bridges.

While the talented freshman has yet to make an announcement about potentially coming back, Tom Izzo is still doing his best to lock up some last-minute recruiting targets. Guys like Brian Bowen, Mark Smith, Blake Harris and Brandon McCoy are still on the board.

However, Vegas still believes the Spartans will be one of the top teams in college basketball next season. The gambling empire has given the Spartans the eighth-best odds to win the 2018 national title even without knowing if Bridges is returning.

The Spartans are one of seven teams with 20/1 odds, including in-state rival Michigan and Indiana. Purdue and Wisconsin are the next-closest Big Ten teams with 60/1 odds. Next year’s conference bouts between the Spartans and Wolverines could get very interesting.

It’s interesting to see the Hoosiers ranked so high even after firing Tom Crean, but Archie Miller may restore the program to greatness.
