Although many who watch Michigan State football in 2016 would disagree, Tyler O’Connor is confident that he will get a shot in the NFL.

The NFL has come calling for many Michigan State football players even after a 3-9 season, but that’s become the norm for the Spartans. Heck, even Malik McDowell is leaving early to pursue his dreams and has the potential to be a first-round pick. One guy who isn’t even on the radar is making some bold statements, though.

Tyler O’Connor was quoted before Michigan State’s pro day as saying that he would “shock” NFL scouts with his arm.

According to Ty Schalter of LionsWire, O’Connor got a chance to meet with about seven or eight NFL teams already and he’s pretty confident in his abilities.

"“I’m confident I’ll shock a lot of scouts, coaches and general managers when they watch me throw,” O’Connor said. “I’ve seen firsthand my arm compared to NFL first-rounders and current NFL starters, and I have no doubt that I can make the throws that they can make.”“I would put my football knowledge up against any quarterback in this draft,” O’Connor said. “When it comes to understanding coverages and reading defenses and blitzes and tendencies, I feel like that’s something we did a lot a Michigan State, and it’ll prepare me well for what NFL scouts and coaches will ask me during the process.”"

While everyone should be hoping the best for the former Michigan State quarterback, who started just one year after backing up Connor Cook, it does make you wonder where this arm he talks about was hiding during his senior season.

Good for O’Connor for following his dreams, but it’s going to be a long uphill battle when it comes to making an NFL roster.
