Michigan State basketball took on No. 24 Minnesota on Wednesday night and played well, for the most part.

Michigan State came out firing on Wednesday night and the Spartans were fed by the Izzone, which was returned to form after winter break. Michigan State got hot early on and never looked back, winning by 18.

The Spartans looked solid all game long shooting the ball, but cooled off a bit near the end of the game. One major positive was the free throw shooting which was close to 83 percent — 14-of-17 on the night.

Three freshmen were in the starting lineup — Miles Bridges, Josh Langford and Nick Ward — and they combined for 38 points and 17 rebounds.

Has Michigan State finally figured things out or was this just an outlier win? We will find out on Sunday afternoon against Ohio State.

Three Stars

Miles Bridges returned to form and looked like the player who everyone fell in love with before the ankle injury. He scored 16 points, all in the first half, grabbed six rebounds and swatted four shots.

Josh Langford was a stud for the Spartans on Wednesday and Izzo has to be hoping this is how he continues to play. He scored 13 and had three rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting.

Nick Ward rounds out the stars as the third freshman. He did foul out, but he played aggressive and finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
