The Michigan State football team is exactly where it wanted to be eight games into the 2015 season — sort of. The Spartans are unbeaten and have two wins over ranked opponents in then-No. 7 Oregon and on the road versus No. 12 Michigan.

Despite winning those two contests against top-15 teams, the Spartans are getting very little respect from the national media. If Oregon keeps losing, that win will look like nothing more than an average victory over a mediocre Power Five opponent. Moreover, ‘experts’ are calling the win over the Wolverines a handout even though the Spartans dominated every statistical category.

There’s absolutely no need to apologize for a miracle win, especially if this team played well enough to come out on top without the miracle.

Either way, the Spartans are 8-0 and there are four very crucial games left in the regular season. Will Mark Dantonio lead this team to its first unbeaten campaign since 1952?

Let’s take a look at five bold predictions for the last month of the regular season.

5. Michael Geiger will hit a game-winning FG

Besides clanking in an extra point last week against Indiana, Michael Geiger made a nice field goal and likely gained some momentum heading into the final one-third of conference play.

However, his confidence had been waning all year long, especially with a couple of misses of less than 40 yards that would have been considered chip shots for the junior in prior seasons. He looks like a completely different kicker this season, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.

Geiger is 6-for-10 on the season and he has been struggling so much that Dantonio has opted to go for it on fourth down multiple times to avoid a potential miss — even within his usual range.

During one of the final games of the year, Geiger is going to make a game-winning field goal that will have Spartan Nation on the edge of their seats. It might not be with no time left, but it will be the go-ahead score that will ultimately win MSU the game.

Also, it will be from 40-plus yards.
