It might just be a little too early to talk about Heisman contenders, but if you look at the schedule, the weeks are just flying by and we are already a third of the way through the college football season.

More from Spartans Football

Big Ten football action is gearing up for its first full week of action on Saturday as top performers from all around the conference are trying to prove that their strong starts to the year are no fluke.

There are plenty of star players in this conference and it’s a league that just doesn’t get enough respect from around the country. Looking at the Big Ten, there are five teams currently ranked in the Top 25.

Let’s take a look at the conferences and the teams that have been fielded in the Top 25 rankings from each. The Big Ten has 20 percent of the rankings covered, the SEC has seven, the Big 12 and Pac-12 also have five and the ACC is sitting in last place of the Power Five leagues with just two squads.

However, the Big 12 and Big Ten are dominating the top-five, putting two teams from each conference in that top-tier while the SEC has the other spot.

Culture around Big Ten football is changing by the minute and with more success on the gridiron comes more talent on the teams, and vice versa — yes, even the weaker teams.

Take a gander at this week’s edition of Big Ten football Heisman watch and let us know if we are missing any serious contenders.
