1. Revenge

This one is easy, the Spartans want revenge more than anything. The loss last year in Eugene stung so bad that some players don’t even like talking about the big game in which the lead slipped out of their fingers in the second half — don’t even bring it up to Connor Cook.

Revenge will be on Michigan State’s mind as the Spartans have had this game, as well as the Ohio State game, circled on their calendars for a year now.

They were embarrassed on the road last season and people could only talk about how good the Ducks were after last year’s game and it was almost lost in the mix at how well MSU actually played for three quarters of that game.

As one of the most underrated factors in a football game, outside of home-field advantage, revenge is best served at home. Thousands of MSU fans are expecting a big MSU win on Saturday night and hundreds of recruits will be in town to witness the Spartans try to get even with the Ducks.

Oh yeah, and there’s a little something called the College Football Playoff on the line.
