College football rankings are what’s on everyone’s mind the day after the final game of the week and Ohio State took care of business on the road against Virginia Tech last night so that must mean today is the day we release the Top 25 list.

Plenty of surprises took place in the first week of play, such as Northwestern taking down the No. 21 Stanford Cardinal when it was a two-touchdown underdog, according to Vegas.

Another big shock was the fact that Virginia Tech put up a good fight against the Buckeyes, taking a lead into halftime, before falling 42-24 as Ohio State surged in the second half.

Yes, college football is back and everyone who had waited all spring and summer to see kickoffs that actually count toward team’s records, this is a great time to be a fan. The first weeks of the season are always exciting, yet sometimes predictable, but there are some matchups that can’t be overlooked.

The team here at Spartan Avenue had a chance to sit down and dissect the weekly college football rankings and we came up with our own.

Based on week one’s performances, we decided on which teams deserved to be in the Top 25 and which teams would cease to make an appearance. Check out who made the cut in week one.
