I’m going to chalk this one up as a virtual tie between true freshman Felton Davis III and fellow true freshman Darrell Stewart. Although I believe Davis III will become the official ‘next man up’ at receiver when basically everyone graduates next year, I think Stewart will be right there with him.

  • Just how good are these two? Mike Wilson had a chance to catch up to Mark Dantonio and the head coach explained what type of impression they’re making.

"“Felton Davis and Darrell Stewart have both been impressive,” he said, “but they gotta learn it and this is about consistency and performance over a period of time. … These next two weeks, what they do in the next two weeks and the opportunities they get are going to tell us the story there.”"

Davis and Stewart are going to have to prepare to be the top weapons in the pass game for next season as guys like DeAnthony Arnett, Aaron Burbridge, Macgarrett Kings Jr. and AJ Troup will all be graduating, leaving the corps essentially bare.

People like to sleep on the potential of Davis III even though he was a highly-touted four-star recruit from Virginia. Watch out for him next season as I think he has the potential to be something very, very special for the Spartans.
