Jon Reschke and Shane Jones both came in as highly-touted linebackers in 2013 and both were redshirted and have been hoping for their shot at starting ever since.

Jones now finds himself as the backup Mike linebacker behind junior Riley Bullough and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot. It’s a bit surprising to see Jones second on the depth chart and Reschke all the way down to fourth as last year it was the other way around.

Coming out of high school as a four-star and the 14th-best inside linebacker of the 2013 class, Jones knew that he would have to live up to high expectations as Michigan State has been known somewhat as a linebacker factory.

The sophomore linebacker has impressed during offseason workouts and spring ball enough to earn himself a spot right behind Bullough on the depth chart. You better believe he has the talent and potential to be something special at MSU.

Watch for him to get some reps this season and truly show Spartan Nation what he has to offer.
