When you think of Michigan State quarterbacks, you think of the great talent that has played under Mark Dantonio for the past eight years.

NFL quarterback talent such as Brian Hoyer, Kirk Cousins and soon-to-be Connor Cook have really taken the spotlight from the rest of the offense, besides maybe running back, and have turned Michigan State into a sort of “QBU.”

So who is the next man up after Cook leaves this season? Many have debated this one, but I think it has to be Damion Terry.

Not often does Mark Dantonio go after dual-threat quarterbacks, but that is what college football has become these days. If you don’t have an athletic guy behind center, the chances of winning decreases significantly.

Terry is the kind of player who can sling the ball 50 yards with ease while also being able to break a 40-yard run on any given play. He’s the kind of talented player who can’t be overlooked, even if there is another solid QB on the roster — Tyler O’Connor.

The hype behind Terry isn’t just smoke, either, as every time he takes the field, a nifty run or impressive pass is pulled off.

If the definition of ‘next man up’ was in the dictionary, you would see Damion’s face right there with it.

Cook’s shoes will be extremely difficult to fill, but Terry is that guy.
