3. Four-star TE Luke Farrell commits
This might honestly be the boldest prediction on the entire list. Four-star 2016 tight end Luke Farrell has narrowed down his top teams to just three that he is keeping an eye on. Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame seem to be atop his list and the leader has to be the Buckeyes at this point.
Many people believe a team will have to wrestle Farrell away from the Buckeyes if they want to even have a shot at the stellar young star. The pass-catching tight end has visited Michigan State in the pat month and even attended the Spartans’ Elite Camp earlier in June. He liked what he saw and it was enough to land Michigan State in his top three.
Honestly, Ohio State is the team to beat right now. However, I think that if he sits down and looks at the recruiting classes for both schools, he will like what the Spartans have to offer him more than what the Buckeyes have.
By no means am I knocking the reigning national champs, but all I am saying is that he would probably rather compete and split time with a guy like Noah Davis who is going to be fighting for minutes or he could sit behind a guy like Jake Hausmann, the No. 3 tight end in the nation.
Ohio State always has the problem of recruiting the top players at each position and making a four-star player sit behind guys rated higher at the same position — see: George Hill.
Don’t be shocked if Luke Farrell makes a surprise commitment this month. I think it’s more than possible.
