4. Four-star CB Ambry Thomas commits

Detroit Martin Luther King High is home to some of the best talent in the state of Michigan and that is the case with four-star 2017 cornerback Ambry Thomas.

Thomas is ranked the No. 141 player overall and No. 12 cornerback in the nation by 247Sports‘ composite and he is also considered a Michigan State-lean. The Spartans’ 2017 class figures to grow a bit more this summer as four-star wide receiver Hunter Rison got it started back in June.

It’s possible that Rison is trying to recruit players in the same way Messiah deWeaver and Cam Chambers have, but there is no telling what kind of effect he is having on guys like Ambry Thomas who are expected to make a decision pretty soon.

This class is going to grow this summer and I think Ambry Thomas will be the next guy to jump on board with the Green & White. While it may still be pretty early in his recruiting process, as he’s only going to be a junior at Detroit King, his head coach has said that he wants his players to commit before the season — whether that means the 2016 guys only or both 2017 and 2016, he didn’t specify.

Expect Thomas to rise even more in the overall recruiting rankings as he is on one of the best teams in the state with a ton of D1 talent that is expected to get a ton of exposure.

I say by the end of the month, you will see Thomas become the second commitment for Mark Dantonio’s 2017 class.
