Urban Meyer is building somewhat of an empire in Columbus, Ohio, these days, but Dantonio could ensure that the Buckeyes-Spartans rivalry is one that college football simply cannot overlook. The Spartans have won four straight bowl games and are the only team to win a BCS bowl game in 2014 and a New Years Six bowl game in 2015.
With a ton to look forward to in the foreseeable future, the Spartans will need to hone their skills in the annual Michigan State football Green vs. White game taking place next Saturday, April 25.
As the spring scrimmage approaches, the team has already been partaking in mini-scrimmages that face the high-powered offense against the stingy defense. There have been two scrimmages so far and the defense has come out on top in both.
With Connor Cook under center and Shilique Calhoun leading the defense, this team has a chance to be one of the best in the nation yet again and maybe even give the Big Ten two teams in the second annual College Football Playoff — although it’s unlikely as Ohio State and MSU play in the same division.
Let’s take a look at five guys for the Spartans that we will need to keep an eye on during the spring game.
