There’s been plenty of portal activity over the past week. Pat Fitzgerald has landed about two dozen players in the portal so far, and some former Michigan State football players have found new homes.

Guys like Nick Marsh, Aidan Chiles, Jalen Thompson, and Alex VanSumeren have all landed at new programs, but there are more names making decisions every day.

A lot of the prominent Spartans in the portal have been making final decisions, but there are some role players, too, who have announced new homes.

Two former Spartans have found new homes at the same program this offseason.

Gavin Broscious committed to Iowa State right after the portal window opened. He entered the portal shortly after Fitzgerald was hired, and he wasted no time finding a new home in the Big 12.

On Friday, another former Spartan announced that he was also going to Iowa State. Evan Boyd, a sophomore receiver, entered the portal a week ago, and now he’s headed to Iowa State as well, joining his former Spartan teammate.

Boyd and Broscious will likely be starting for the Cyclones next season seeing as they lost essentially their entire roster after Matt Campbell left for Penn State.

This is a good spot for both guys.

Pat Fitzgerald has already found their replacements

Michigan State has lost a lot of depth this offseason already thanks to the coaching change and the new winter-only portal window, but Fitzgerald has already addressed those losses.

With Broscious, the Luniewski twins, Stanton Ramil, Kristian Phillips, and Cole Dellinger all gone, Fitzgerald and Nick Tabacca have had to address that.

They have.

Michigan State has picked up commitments from Trent Fraley (North Dakota State), Robert Wright Jr. (Georgia Southern), Nick Sharpe (South Carolina), and Ben Murawski (UConn). The depth has been more than addressed.

As for receiver, Courtney Hawkins and Fitzgerald have gotten Braylon Collier and Chrishon McCray to return, and they landed Fredrick Moore from Michigan. They’re also recruiting several other receivers to fill the voids on the depth chart.

Fitzgerald has done all the right things so far.
