Who would have thought that Michigan State would be playing for a spot in the Big Ten title game in the final game of the regular season? The Spartans are also hoping for a playoff berth here, but a New Year’s Six bowl will do, especially if it’s against an SEC team and gets the Spartans some additional exposure in the south.

Penn State has been up and down all season and it’s really tough to judge this team.

The Nittany Lions looked unbeatable at the beginning of the year and even picked up a big win over Auburn. Then they shut Indiana out to improve to 5-0 and jumped into the top five. Since then, the Nittany Lions have lost three straight games to Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio State. All three of those could have been wins, but the Illinois game really hurt.

Is the real Penn State the team we saw in the first five games or the one from the past three? The team has had distractions with James Franklin being rumored for different jobs, but there is plenty of talent here and Sean Clifford is better than people give him credit for.

This one will be close, but Michigan State find a way to win another tight one to improve to 11-1.

Final Score: Penn State 21, Michigan State 27 (11-1, 8-1)
