This was probably the worst game of the season for Michigan State’s talented receiving corps.

Jayden Reed dropped what could have been an explosive, long touchdown pass which was put right on the money by Payton Thorne all the way down the field. That was an uncharacteristic drop by Reed, so I’m not worried about it, but he still didn’t look like himself. He did catch four passes for 70 yards, leading the way for MSU.

Jalen Nailor was fairly non-existent after a red-hot couple of games against Rutgers and Western Kentucky, totaling just 22 yards on four catches. He also wasn’t as sure-handed as usual.

Tre Mosley had a tough drop on a pass that Thorne tried to squeeze in between two defenders and it hit his hands and looked to drop to the ground, but the Hoosiers picked him off. He finished with just one reception for 12 yards on the game as he was a relative non-factor.

Catching the only touchdown pass was Tyler Hunt who gave the Spartans a 17-9 lead in the third and they never looked back. It was a simple catch, but also very clutch. He also threw a pass to Thorne who may have actually had the best catch of the afternoon on that touchdown drive.

Not a great sign when your quarterback has your best reception.
