1. Western Kentucky keeps this one within a score

I hate to be negative, but I just don’t see Michigan State’s defense doing a lot of stopping of Western Kentucky on third downs which is going to lead to more long drives and another potential time of possession discrepancy.

Mel Tucker has done a solid job of getting his guys ready for every game this year, but it’s tough to prepare for a pass-heavy attack like what Western Kentucky has, especially when the secondary has struggled the way it has in 2021. Plus, it just lost some depth with Kalon Gervin entering the transfer portal. It could be a long night for the secondary.

I do believe Michigan State will pick Bailey Zappe off a couple of times, as mentioned before, which the Spartans will turn into 10 points and it could be a big swing in the game, but the Hilltoppers are going to keep this one tight throughout.

This is going to have the same feel as that Utah State game from 2018 when the Spartans hung on to win a shootout, 38-31, in East Lansing. This will have almost the same exact feel.

Michigan State wins by a touchdown.
