Michigan State Football: Game-by-game predictions for October 2021
Fresh off their first loss of the season, the Spartans will get an extra week to prepare for Michigan and that’s going to be huge for this team.
There will be no time to sulk over the loss to Indiana which will undoubtedly knock them out of top-10 consideration before this Michigan game, but beating the Wolverines could change that.
Cade McNamara has been one of the better quarterbacks in the Big Ten this season but he hasn’t proven that he can throw the ball in heavy doses this season and Michigan State’s strength is its run-stopping ability. This could be a recipe for success for the Spartans, forcing McNamara to air it out more than he feels comfortable doing.
Plus, this is Cade’s first start in a rivalry game on the road and the atmosphere might be a little daunting for him. We’ll see what he’s made of here.
Michigan’s defense has been great this year while the offense has been extremely run-heavy. I think the Spartans take advantage of that and Jayden Reed has a big day on special teams and receiving, giving the Spartans a big win in the rivalry for a second straight year.
Tuck comin’.
Final Score: Michigan 20, Michigan State 27 (7-1, 4-1)
