Michigan State Football: Game-by-game predictions for October 2021
Michigan State is out for revenge. Last year’s losses must be avenged and Rutgers has been circled on the calendar for that reason alone.
The Scarlet Knights came to East Lansing to kick off the Mel Tucker era in 2020 and turned the Spartans over seven times en route to a shocking win. Greg Schiano took it to Michigan State in his first game back as head coach of the Scarlet Knights and looked to have his team ahead of schedule, leading Rutgers to their first win over the Spartans since joining the Big Ten.
Tucker hasn’t forgotten that loss. These players haven’t forgotten that loss. The fans definitely haven’t forgotten that loss.
Michigan State will march into Piscataway and steal a win from the Scarlet Knights who I believe are going to be tough this season and make a bowl game for the first time in what feels like an eternity.
But Noah Vedral and Co. will struggle here. This will have the feel of a double-mouthguard Big Ten battle just like the Nebraska game was.
Michigan State becomes bowl eligible in Week 6.
Final Score: Michigan State 23, Rutgers 17 (6-0, 3-0)
