2. Kenneth Walker III reaches 1,000 yards

Kenneth Walker III leads the nation in rushing. Yes, you read that correctly, a Michigan State running back is currently No. 1 in college football in rushing yards. It feels like it’s been an eternity since Michigan State had a strong run game, but here we are.

However, Walker III is coming off his worst game of the season in which it took him 19 carries to rack up 61 yards. Before the Nebraska game, Walker III was averaging well over 8.0 yards per carry and his worst game was a seven-carry, 57-yard outing against Youngstown State. He has been elite this season and that’s not going to change in October.

Against some opponents that will give up some rushing yards, Walker III will average over 100 yards per game yet again and he’ll reach 1,000 yards before the Spartans even take the field in November. This will give Michigan State its first 1,000-yard rusher since Jeremy Langford in 2014.

Michigan State always fares better with a strong run game and Walker III leads one of the best backfields in the nation. The Spartans are going to thrive with K-9 playing at a high level again.
