Secondary: B+

After a shaky opener, which was more so due to the nature of soft coverage against short routes, the secondary rebounded to hold Youngstown State to just 137 yards through the air on 32 attempts.

Demeatric Crenshaw just didn’t have a good day through the air, completing just 10-of-23 passes for 81 yards and he threw the game’s lone pick to Xavier Henderson who made an incredible one-handed grab. He was off the mark all game long which helped Michigan State’s defensive backfield, but there were also very few instances of Youngstown State having a wide-open receiver.

Joe Craycraft came in and completed 5-of-6 passes for 56 yards and looked like the better passer, but he also did this against Michigan State’s backups.

Henderson had a fantastic game, leading Michigan State with eight tackles, a sack, a pass deflection, and a pick. He continues to look like an All-Big Ten safety.

Chester Kimbrough stepped up after a big week of practice which earned him time with the starters at cornerback over Ronald Williams. He had five tackles and a quarterback hurry while Williams finished with just one tackle.

I thought Charles Brantley played well along with Angelo Grose and Kalon Gervin, but Darius Snow continues to impress.
