Michigan State Football: How do 2021 position groups compare to 2020?
Defensive line
Better or worse (than 2020): Slightly better
I wasn’t high on the defensive line heading into the offseason, but I have since grown to like what I see from Michigan State’s unit.
Ron Burton didn’t get a ton of production from his line a year ago, but he’s added some pieces to work with like Drew Jordan, Tyson Watson, and Derrick Harmon.
Even better, Jacub Panasiuk is back and healthy and he’s already setting lofty goals for himself. He said he wants to lead the Big Ten in sacks and if he brings that mindset into the season, we should surely see a better version of the senior defensive end. I think he’s due for a big season.
Jalen Hunt has been earning some major praise this offseason and Drew Beesley might be the most underrated player in this group along with Michael Fletcher.
Plus, the addition of Drew Jordan brings experience and a heck of a lot of production.
