Williams was one of the best JUCO prospects in the nation before committing to Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class. He was the No. 12 JUCO prospect in the nation, listed as a four-star, and he held nearly two dozen offers which is rare for a prospect from that level.
The former four-star JUCO transfer had just one tackle in two appearances during the Crimson Tide’s national title season and he decided to hit the portal in search of more playing time.
The 6-2, 188-pound cornerback has terrific size and athleticism and it wasn’t necessarily his fault that Alabama’s defensive backfield was loaded last season which prevented him from playing extensively. After watching the spring game, it was pretty clear that Michigan State could use some help in the secondary, especially at corner. It would make too much sense.
Michigan State has added a couple of cornerbacks in the portal already but Williams could be an immediate starter. Also, losing Steffan Johnson from the 2021 class opens a spot.
