Receivers/Tight Ends

Starting receivers: Tre Mosley, Jalen Nailor, Jayden Reed
Backups: CJ Hayes, Ricky White, Tre’Von Morgan

While it may seem like the receiver position was wiped clean with the departures of Cody White (922 yards, 6 TDs) and Darrell Stewart Jr. (697 yards, 4 TDs), the Spartans have some talented wide out returning.

Tre Mosley had an impressive freshman campaign with 21 catches for 216 yards and his first career touchdown and you can just see that potential in him. He could be a No. 1 target this season. Jalen Nailor should join him as a starter, bringing that top-end speed to the receiving corps — he had 15 catches for 106 yards in 2019.

And then there’s former Freshman All-American Jayden Reed who transferred in from Western Michigan and sat out the 2019 season. He has been working with Antonio Brown recently and the sky is the limit for him.

As the the depth, pieces like CJ Hayes, Ricky White and Tre’Von Morgan are all intriguing.

Starting tight end: Matt Dotson
Backup: Trenton Gillison

The top tight end from last season, Matt Seybert, is gone, but that opens the door for Matt Dotson to fully return from injury to take over as the No. 1 guy. He was the No. 1 tight end heading into 2019, but he suffered a season-ending injury in the middle of the year, finishing with just 16 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown. He should be a big name to watch in 2020.

Trenton Gillison is another one of my breakout picks in 2020. He’s a big, athletic tight end who can stretch the field and make life miserable for opposing linebackers who try to cover him. He had a big Pinstripe Bowl performance and finished the season with 12 catches for 147 yards.
