6. Cody White reaches 1,000 yards receiving

There are questions surrounding the receiving corps this season as Felton Davis III has graduated. Who will step in as that No. 1 receiver? If it is Cody White, can he truly have the impact of which he is capable? Can he contend for the Big Ten’s receiver of the year award?

All of those questions will soon be answered, but the first has to be White turning into that clear go-to receiver for the Spartans. He was right behind Davis III in production for the past couple of seasons and he even finished tops on the team in receptions and yards despite missing four games with an injury.

White had 490 yards and four touchdowns on 35 catches as a freshman (11 games) but put up even more impressive numbers as a sophomore in two less appearances. In fact, he had 42 receptions for 555 yards and two scores while rushing for another touchdown to beat Rutgers in the season finale.

Michigan State hasn’t had a receiver break 1,000 yards since Aaron Burbridge did it in 2015, winning the Big Ten Receiver of the Year award. That came one year after Tony Lippett also reached 1,000 and won the top receiver honor.

While White may not win the Big Ten Receiver of the Year award, he will reach 1,000 yards.
