2. Spartans make New Year’s Six bowl

Will the Spartans shock everyone and win the Big Ten? Unfortunately, I’m not going that far. I do believe this team has the talent to make a run at the title, but I think Ohio State takes the crown yet again and even if they tie with the Spartans atop the division, the Buckeyes will hold some sort of tie-breaker (maybe head-to-head).

But with a second-place finish in the East, the Spartans will be recognized on a national level and earn a trip to a New Year’s Day bowl (or close to it) for the first time since making the playoff back in 2015 and getting shut out by Alabama.

Ohio State is going to make a push for a playoff spot, but even if they fall short, the Buckeyes and the Spartans could both be playing in New Year’s Six contests.

After a 7-6 season a year ago, finishing with a New Year’s Six bowl almost seemed out of the question in the near future, but Michigan State will turn things around like it always seems to do under Mark Dantonio.
