One of the best stories of fall camp has been Anthony Williams Jr. He has been turning heads left and right and looks like one of the biggest surprises on the team and may just look to take over the starting running back job.

When talking with Big Ten Network’s Dave Revsine, Mark Dantonio spoke about some freshmen who have impressed in fall camp to this point and he spoke of three linemen: Devontae Dobbs, Nick Samac and JD Duplain, but he was also high on Julian Barnett and Anthony Williams.

So why isn’t Barnett at this No. 1 spot on the list? Well because he’s not exactly what you’d classify as an under-the-radar player. There are extremely high expectations for the former four-star top-100 recruit and he moved to receiver and has been excelling there.

That’s where Williams comes in. The former three-star recruit from Illinois has been a standout in spring and now in the late-summer and looks like one of those breakout performers.

Don’t be shocked if Williams is the starting running back when the season begins and he could even approach 1,000 yards on the ground.
