Michigan State Basketball: Miles Bridges returns to form in Indiana blowout

Sophomore sensation Miles Bridges returned to form in Michigan State’s blowout win of Indiana on Friday night.

Going into Friday night’s game against Indiana, Miles Bridges knew he’d be judged on how he and the Spartans rebounded from a loss to Michigan. The Michigan State sophomore responded to last week’s criticism with an 85-57 win over the Hoosiers.

Not only did Michigan State look much better than it had in the previous three games but its star finally looked like his old self. Bridges finished with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor and was 4-of-6 from behind the arc.

Yes, he did have a problem with turnovers yet again, which will have to be fixed soon, but everything else looked the part of Bridges of old.

That includes his highlight-reel dunks.

This is good news for Michigan State which had been reeling in the previous three games with a 1-2 record with an overtime home win over Rutgers. He had his best game arguably since conference play began and Tom Izzo saw his star player acting “like more of a jerk” on Friday.

The team, as a whole, also looked better as the Spartans finished with a 54 percent shooting rate and they made 10-of-20 from beyond the arc. They did have 13 turnovers, but Cassius Winston rebounded nicely from a terrible game against Michigan and had just one with his 10 points and eight assists.

Michigan State’s defense also stepped up, holding Indiana to 33 percent shooting and this was one of those “we’re back” wins. It must have been those alternate jerseys.
