3. Michigan State’s receivers are elite

While watching the offense take steps in the right direction Saturday, one thing became evident: the receivers are playing at an elite level. Is this just a mirage or are the receivers just that good?

More from Spartans Football

A few weeks ago, I’d say give it time to let these guys prove themselves even more. After the win over Penn State, it’s obvious that guys like Felton Davis III, Darrell Stewart Jr., Hunter Rison and Cody White make up one of the best receiving corps in college football.

Not many would have seen that coming, especially with very little production from this group a year ago. Everyone had been waiting for Davis III to break out, but he hadn’t through his first two seasons. Now, he’s become the No. 1 receiver on the team, catching 12 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown Saturday.

Stewart Jr. was second with five receptions for 65 yards, including a nice leaping grab for the Spartans’ first score in the corner on the end zone. Rison had a couple of diving receptions and totaled 52 yards on three catches. Lastly, White had yet another strong game with five receptions for 51 yards.

These receivers are only going to get better. Scary thought.
