1. Brian Lewerke needs to have his best game

Brian Lewerke is leading Michigan State in rushing yards and in passing. He has made some risky throws that have led to interceptions, but he has been excellent on the short throws to intermediate ones. Although there are exceptions to everything as he’s missed wide open screens.

We have yet to watch him go deep and that could be there Saturday. His mechanics have progressed each game, however, the Spartans will need him to be at his best in order to beat Iowa. He can’t be caught being too conservative yet again.

Michigan State’s run game will find tough sledding against this Iowa front-seven. They may have to throw early and often in order to loosen up the middle and open running lanes. Lewerke will need to be accurate and avoid the rush. His awareness needs to improve drastically for this one.
