1. Michigan State covers the spread, and then some

Two years ago when Michigan State traveled to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan, the Spartans struggled to put the Broncos away. Sure, the crowd was electric as it was one of the biggest home games in Western history, but the Spartans were the far superior team.

Fast forward to the 2017 matchup and East Lansing will be buzzing. It’s not exactly a primetime matchup between two heavyweights, but Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. contest against the Broncos is one to keep an eye on. Both teams are hungry for a victory and the Spartans need it the most.

Although Western is 0-1 to Michigan State’s 1-0, the Spartans are looking to gain momentum heading into the bye week. This team wants to prove that last year’s 3-9 record was nothing more than a fluke and an outlier. Michigan State will come out strong and put points on the board early — unlike the Bowling Green game.

The current spread is 7.5 points in favor of the green and white, but expect Brian Lewerke and LJ Scott to have big games and the pass defense will step up, too. Michigan State covers the spread and wins by double-digits — 11 points, to be exact.
