3. LJ Scott rebounds with 150-yard day

It was an ugly showing in Week 1 for LJ Scott. The presumed starting running back and lead workhorse in the backfield coughed the ball up twice in crucial situation for MSU. The first fumble was on first-and-goal from the one-yard-line. The next was an ill-timed fumble during an advancing drive which resulted in a return touchdown.

That last fumble may have been controversial because it looked like Scott was down, but he needs to protect the ball no matter what. That was the Falcons’ only touchdown against the Spartans.

Mark Dantonio has rushed in to defend his junior running back, stating that he’s not worried about the fumbles and that won’t affect him negatively moving forward. That’s a good sign and Scott has to feel good knowing that his coach has his back. He will respond in a big way, rushing for over 150 yards and adding two scores.

Scott is looking to avoid the dreaded drop in carries, like he did after a fumble against Wisconsin last year, so he will do everything in his power to make up for it. The line will finally open up holes and he will run right through them to the tune of 163 yards and two scores on 22 carries.
