Luke Campbell decommitted from Purdue and now is starting right tackle for the green and white as a redshirt freshman. He has been the name coaches have been most impressed with along the offensive line.

Line coach Mark Staten has been particularly impressed by Campbell. He plays fast, and with an edge, but is also a quick learner. It is these characteristics and work ethic that have landed him the opportunity to start. He has gone as far as to say he believes Campbell could be a Freshman All-American.

With the hype surrounding the young guys on the offensive line, it’s easy for fans to get excited. However, there will be some growing pains. Still, in a season-opener against a lesser opponent, Campbell could have a coming out party.

Bowling Green does not represent the biggest challenge that Luke will face this season, however, the Falcons are the first test. It will be interesting to see if Campbell is able to translate the way he has practiced to the field. He made a strong showing the Spring scrimmage and did not play like a freshman. There is a reason coaches and teammates are awed by his play.
