Michigan State Football: Predicting where Spartans land in 2017 NFL Draft
Not being invited to the NFL Combine was a shock to many, especially to the snub himself. Josiah Price worked hard to improve throughout his career, but it wasn’t enough to earn an invite to the Combine in Indianapolis.
The Greentown, Ind., native had been struggling throughout his career with run blocking and that’s what always set him as an ‘OR’ on the depth chart. He had the tools to be one of the best tight ends in recent Michigan State football memory, but he could never really put together a full array of skills.
While blocking was never really his strong suit, the NFL loves tight ends that can catch the ball and put up some YAC (yards after catch). Price has some of the best hands of any tight end entering the draft and he even had his best year as a senior, catching 38 passes for 387 yards and five touchdowns.
Price is considered a potential undrafted free agent by some, but he has the tools to intrigue a team late in the draft. Don’t be surprised if he gets swiped in the seventh round and sticks with a team, making the 53-man roster in the fall.
