Michigan State recruiting offered four-star 2017 athlete Devan Barrett from Tampa.
Mark Dantonio’s presence was strong in Florida on Thursday as he extended an offer to four-star defensive end Zachary Carter from Tampa as well as four-star athlete Devan Barrett — also from Tampa.

Barrett is considered an athlete, but 247Sports lists him as a running back. The Spartans are likely not looking outside of the Midwest for a second running back in the class as three-star Weston Bridges from Ohio committed a week ago.
The two other top running back targets are Todd Sibley, a four-star OSU commit, and Lynn Bowden, a four-star recent Indiana de-commit.
Barrett might be recruited by Dantonio to play on the defensive side of the ball since he’s also listed as a safety. Like the other Tampa-area prospect Dantonio offered on Thursday, Barrett also has nearly 40 offers.
The Tampa Catholic athlete is considered the No. 251 overall prospect as well as the 17th-best running back and 38th-best Florida recruit in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.
Quick, elusive and athletic are the three words that come to mind when watching his highlight reel. He can also catch out of the backfield and make guys miss with relative ease. It would be nice to add that athleticism to the secondary, but just like for Carter, Dantonio may have jumped in a bit too late in the recruiting process.
Other offers include Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and USC.
