Despite the recent commitment of Ben Carter, Michigan State recruiting is still looking to add four-star power forward Taurean Thompson.
Michigan State added much-needed big man depth on Wednesday afternoon as UNLV grad transfer big man Ben Carter committed to the Spartans, but Tom Izzo isn’t yet satisfied. According to Adam Zagoria, Michigan State still wants four-star power forward Taurean Thompson to take an official to East Lansing.

You can never have too much depth in the post, especially for a team losing four major contributors from a season ago down low.
Thompson, standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, has emerged as a major target for Izzo and his staff as he’s the No. 59 prospect in the 2016 class, according to 247Sports. He’s one of the only top 100 players yet to pick a school and he just recently visited Syracuse — the Orange are the favorites to land him.
The big man from New Hampshire could be lured to East Lansing with the promise of prominent playing time as a freshman on a team that will likely be ranked in the top-10 when the season begins.
Right now, the Spartans have Carter, Kenny Goins, Gavin Schilling and Nick Ward in the post, but adding a guy like Thompson would be the icing on the cake and maybe the missing piece to the national title puzzle.
