Wide Receivers: A

This might be the most talented group of wide receivers in Michigan State history. If not talent, then reliability because Connor Cook trusts these guys so much that he has no problem just throwing the ball up 50/50 style and believing his targets will come down with the catch.

Such was the case late in the game when Shelton — seemingly deserving of the nickname ‘Big Catch Shelton’ — made what was, at the time, the catch of the year. Michigan State needed a big third-down conversion late in the fourth to set up quite possibly the game-clinching score and Shelton rose up over a defender and brought down an incredible 23-yard catch inside the 10-yard line of Nebraska.

It seemed like the Spartans were going to run away with this one easily, but a 12-point score diminished in the snap of a finger, as we all know by now.

Outside of Shelton, Macgarrett Kings Jr. had another solid game, catching four passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns, including a pretty stunning change-of-field in which he juked out two defenders for a nice 34-yard score.

The real star of the day, though, had to have been Aaron Burbridge who finished the game, yet again, with over 100 yards — his seventh such performance of the year. He racked up 10 catches for 164 yards and a huge 33-yard touchdown catch and run.

Right now, the receiving corps can do no wrong.
