I will admit, this is a play that shouldn’t even have to be on this list, but Arjen Colquhoun helped the Spartans avoid absolute disaster against Purdue in week five.

It was Michigan State’s first Big Ten game of the season and Boilermakers’ head coach Purdue Darrell Hazell claimed he had a plan for beating the Spartans. People laughed that off and thought he was crazy, and he look as such through three quarters of the Purdue vs. Michigan State game.

However, the fourth quarter rolled around and a 21-0 lead turned into a 24-21 Spartans’ lead with the Boilermakers driving and time winding down.

Michigan State senior cornerback Arjen Colquhoun just wouldn’t allow the Spartans to be upset in embarrassing fashion, so he made one of the plays of the year, saving MSU from a devastating loss to Purdue.

Note: The play happens around the 0:31 mark.

Again, this play should have never had to happen since Michigan State was dominating for three quarters only to let up in the fourth and allow the Boilermakers to climb back in it.

Three second half touchdowns made this game far too close for comfort and Spartan Nation breathed a huge sigh of relief when this one was over.
