2. Jim Harbaugh doesn’t have his players yet

This one is a classic used by Wolverines fans over the years and it will be used yet again for this season.

“Jim Harbaugh doesn’t have his players yet.”

Ah, yes. Acting like Brady Hoke went down to the local high schools and just handed scholarships to anyone who could throw a football over 10 yards. Actually, that was quite the opposite case as Hoke had a couple of elite recruiting years in 2012 and 2013.

Fifth-year seniors on this team were part of Michigan’s 26th-best national recruiting class in 2011 — not too shabby. The 2012 class (seniors and redshirt juniors) was ranked sixth in the country. The 2013 class (juniors and redshirt sophomores) was ranked impressively at No. 4 in the nation. Hoke’s last year, 2014 (sophomores and redshirt freshmen), had a class ranked in the top 20.

This year’s class, 2015, was the worst, though, ranked No. 37 in the nation — or otherwise known as a normal Mark Dantonio class. The Spartan head coach has had multiple classes ranked anywhere from 30th to 50th and still puts together top-five teams. No excuses.

I can agree that once Harbaugh gets guys that he personally has recruited, he will put together the team he has envisioned and Michigan will see more success, but to act like this year doesn’t count because it’s Harbaugh’s first season is a joke.

There’s plenty of elite talent on this team, Hoke just had no idea how to utilize it.
