Like the grade for Connor Cook, you can’t really hate on what the receivers did on Saturday, but a drop by tight end Jamal Lyles in the end zone really hurt MSU’s chances to put the game away for good as it could have increased the lead to 14, instead of just 10, in the fourth quarter.

It was nice to see some new faces get some extra snaps at receiver, but Felton Davis III wasn’t targeted at all and Mark Dantonio’s decision to burn his redshirt is looking sillier by the day. If they can start passing him the ball on a regular basis, I think he can really make things happen, but he may have been better suited to sit out this year.

As for an older new face — if that even makes sense — junior wide out Monty Madaris really impressed.

While he only caught two passes, Cook completed just 13 and didn’t really have many pass plays called on Saturday. Madaris was playing in his first game of the year as he was deemed ‘100 percent’ healthy by the coaching staff. He caught two balls for 47 yards and would have likely scored on the first 34-yard reception if Cook had hit him in stride.

Aaron Burbridge was a bit disappointing as he ha disappeared over the last two weeks, catching just one pass for nine yards this week and four for 31 last week.
