Boise State is enjoying a nice 4-1 start to the season and coming off a 55-0 victory over Hawaii, the Broncos are the newest addition in our Top 25 this week. Since freshman quarterback Brett Rypien took over as the starter, Boise State just hasn’t looked back. In three games this year, he has completed 74 percent of his passes for 718 yards and six touchdowns — no picks. Watch out for the Broncos this year.

Iowa marched into Madison, Wisc., and stole a win right from underneath Wisconsin‘s nose. The Badgers were almost unprepared for what type of solid defense they would be facing and the Hawkeyes didn’t need much offense in a 10-6 win. In fact, all of Iowa’s points were scored in the second quarter and the defense allowed just two field goals. Going into Camp Randall and winning is not an easy feat, especially against a ranked Wisconsin team.

After a tough loss to Utah last week at home, the Oregon Ducks needed to make a statement on the road, and they did just that against Colorado, winning 41-24. Vernon Adams Jr. sat out in this one while Jeff Lockie started, but was ineffective and threw an early pick. He was replaced, but it didn’t matter because the run game carried the Ducks to victory. Royce Freeman finished with 163 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.

Remember when the Cal Golden Bears were considered one of the worst teams in college football? Yeah, that wasn’t too long ago, but now they are in the Top 25 and unbeaten through five weeks of play. Jared Goff had yet another game in a 34-28 win over Washington State, passing for 390 yards and four touchdowns, looking like the best quarterback in the country.

Michigan just keeps on winning. While the rest of the Big Ten is already on notice of the Wolverines’ success, the nation should also be watching. The run game for Michigan as well as the defense have led the way as it defeated the Maryland Terrapins 28-0 for the second shutout in as many weeks.
