The three-headed monster of Gerald Holmes, L.J. Scott and Madre London has done quite well in replacing Jeremy Langford. While not quite as consistent as what Langford was, which is keeping the grade from being an ‘A,’ it has gotten the job done.

London and Scott have been the primary carriers while Holmes did come in at the end of the Central Michigan game and provided a great spark.

London has broken off long runs as well as picked up the tough yards, totaling 275 for the season and adding four touchdowns. Scott, who does not run at all like a true freshman, has added 230 yards to go with two touchdowns and a co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week award.

It seems improbable that Dantonio will go with three running backs all season, as it is too difficult to get into the flow of a game and manage that many carries. It will be interesting to see if he sticks with London and Scott. I suspect that as the year continues and the offensive line gets healthier the running game will also get a boost.
