Just a week ago, the Michigan State Spartans were looking like the team to beat in the Big Ten with guys like Deyonta Davis and Caleb Swanigan coming to town for the 2015-16 season. Just days later, news of Swanigan’s decommitment from Michigan State was circulating and Tom Izzo was rumored to be relieved that the circus was over.
Now, rumors are circulating again that are claiming Swanigan had some pretty ridiculous demands that Izzo refused to deliver on.
Many people were wondering why the five-star big man all of a sudden decided to change his mind and open his recruitment back up. Just a week before, he was saying he’s 100 percent committed to Michigan State and now he’s no longer in a relationship with the program.
People on the internet are speculating as to why this happened — many believe it’s because he wants to go to Purdue, where it legal guardian went to school. Others believe it’s because MSU wanted him to play center instead of the power forward position in which he is more comfortable.
Want to hear a rumor that’s starting to pick up steam? Michigan State beat writer for MLive Kyle Austin made an appearance on 730 AM The Game recently to talk about the crazy rumors.
It seems like Swanigan knew he would get a lot of playing time, otherwise he wouldn’t have committed in the first place, but now we hear about a personal chef and separate living quarters not being honored by Izzo?
If this stuff is true and Swanigan demanded these things from MSU, it’s probably a good thing he didn’t end up joining the Green & White.
However, it’s all speculation and rumors right now.
