Michigan State Spartans Hockey Splits Weekend Series With Bowling Green

The Michigan State Spartans split their weekend series with the Bowling Green Falcons, losing the first game 2-1, and winning the second 3-1. Each team won at home.

Three of Michigan State’s 4 weekend goals were scored by Spartan captain Greg Wolfe, including the only Spartan goal of the first game which came unassisted.

Sophomore forward Tanner Sorenson had the other Spartan goal. It was his only point of the series.

Lee Reimer and Chris Forfar each had two helpers over the weekend, while Travis Walsh and RJ Boyd each had one.

The Spartans junior net-minder Will Yanakeff started the first game of the series and had 24 saves, allowed two goals, and fell just short of the win.

Michigan State freshmen goaltender Jake Hildebrand played the second game, making 27 saves, allowing just one goal, and earning the win.

Michigan State went 1/8 on the power play. Bowling Green went 2/7.

The Spartans were out shot by the Falcons on the weekend 54-36.

Northern Michigan will be in East Lansing next weekend for their first series against the Spartans this season.
