About Our Writers

I’ve been a sports fan all my life, particularly a college sports fan!

Drew Neitzel, one of my all-time Spartan greats!

I graduated from Boise State in 2004 with a degree in mass communications/journalism and went on to become the sports editor at the Idaho Press-Tribune in nearby Nampa, Idaho. I covered the Boise State Broncos for more than seven years and was around the program as way back as the Big West days. My wife, who is a lieutenant in U.S. Navy, got stationed in San Diego in 2009, so off we went — with our two boys in tow — to a place that has only one change in season — Daylight Savings Time.

I currently work in La Jolla, Calif., at the La Jolla Light as the newspaper’s sports editor. When I am not at the beach on assignment (wink, wink) or lunch breaks, I can usually be found wondering around San Diego covering different sports happenings — high school, college, pros … and of course that cute “community feature” on the local 80-year-old-women’s swim club (that’s kinda a joke, but it’s happened).

Though I am a Boise State alumnus, and I do call Idaho home, I was born and raised in Michigan (and I do have at least one family member who is an MSU alum). I love Michigan State. It’s a family tradition. It’s also a family tradition to beat up on those damn Wolverines. Sparty on!
