Michigan State football is entering the dog days of summer, but recruiting never stops. Here’s the latest weekly roundup for June 11-17.

It was a big week for Michigan State football as it held its annual elite camp, bringing some big-time targets to campus.

The Spartans have made up some ground with some recruits while another top-tier target completely ruled out the green and white after a not-so-exciting visit, in his words.

Let’s take a look at the news and notes from the week of June 11 in the Michigan State recruiting world.

Denver Warren not impressed

Four-star 2020 defensive tackle target Denver Warren dominated headlines near the end of last week after he claimed his Michigan State visit “wasn’t even exciting” and named Michigan his leader. Michigan State looked to be the leader, even garnering 100 percent of the 247Sports Crystal Ball before the visit, but his trip to Ann Arbor took the cake.

Warren will likely no longer be considering the Spartans as he said East Lansing just wasn’t the right fit for him.

JD Duplain makes trip to East Lansing

Michigan State coaches are extremely high on three-star 2019 offensive tackle JD Duplain from Strongsville, Ohio, and vice versa. He’s close with the staff and may be closing in on a commitment and made his way to campus last week.

Duplain’s camp likely brought him one step closer to making his decision and all signs are pointing to the Spartans winning this recruiting battle.

In-state DE finally receives offer

It took a while, but Michigan State finally extended an offer to three-star in-state defensive end Darius Robinson after his camp performance.

Many were surprised the nation’s No. 630 recruit and 15th-best in-state prospect, reigning from Canton, had yet to receive an offer, but this one could be a game-changer. Michigan State looks like the favorite as of mid-June.

Jalen Hunt takes official, Fletcher makes appearance

Jalen Hunt was recently offered by Michigan State back in April and the Belleville-native is already strongly considering the Spartans. He took his official visit to East Lansing over the weekend and admitted MSU still has ground to make up, but enjoyed his visit.

Hunt is ranked the No. 561 player in the class and 13th-best prospect in the state of Michigan. It’ll take a lot of work for Mark Dantonio and the staff to pry him away from Iowa, the current favorite.

Even better news for Michigan State was the fact that Michael Fletcher also made it to campus, taking a break from his basketball camp to visit the football side of things.

Fletcher is schedule to make his decision on June 29. He and Hunt would make quite the force on the Spartan defensive line.
