Michigan State landed another great linebacker for the class of 2018 in Chase Kline. The Ohio product has all the tools necessary to be a big contributor.

Chase Kline had a long offer list that included schools like Yale, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Iowa State, and Boston College. After watching his film I felt that Kline was born to play at Michigan State. His playing style and acumen will go well with what MSU is doing on defense. He is a physical presence who can drop back in coverage.

Michigan State has an impressive recent history of producing quality linebackers who weren’t as highly-regarded out of high school. There’s Denico Allen, Max and Riley Bullough, Greg Jones and Joe Bachie. Now, it’s Kline’s turn to have a major impact despite being listed as a three-star.

Kline tackles well in space and seemed to be in and around the pigskin. He pursues well and does not give up on plays. Also, he sheds blocks well and has great closing speed. Kline is an instinctual player and when he makes a decision he goes all out. Kline was coached well and that comes across on his film.

The incoming freshman compares similarly to Bachie, the current starting middle linebacker. I would even take it a step further had write that at times I thought I was watching Max Bullough on the film.
