Michigan State football received some good news on Friday as three-star athlete Shakur Brown was finally en route to join the rest of the 2017 class.

Everyone who was expected to be on the roster come fall camp from the 2017 class was accounted for besides one. Three-star athlete Shakur Brown was the last to commit to Michigan State football’s 2017 class and also the last to make his way to East Lansing.

Just this past week, Mark Dantonio talked about how he had some classes to finish and then he’d be making his way to Michigan State. No one knew for sure when that would be.

That was until Brown tweeted out on Friday afternoon that he was en route to Michigan State from Atlanta, Ga.

It might not seem like he’s a crucial member of the class since he didn’t even end up committing until June 3 and signing five days later, but he’s one of the more “exciting” incoming players and could be a force in the Spartans’ return game.

In fact, Brown is listed as an athlete, but can play receiver or cornerback and his return skills may be the most valuable early on. He was a surprise commitment to the green and white, but the staff knew exactly what he could bring to the table.

Brown, a Stockbridge, Ga., native, was ranked the No. 1,034 player in the class and was the 74th-best athlete, according to 247Sports. He chose the Spartans over about 16 other offers and Dantonio looks to have found a diamond in the rough — again.
